Are you dealing with chronic pain – pain lasting 6 months or more? If you are taking physician-prescribed opioids to deal with your pain, sign up today for this Chronic Pain Self-Management workshop. Stanford Pain Management Center is studying its effectiveness for people taking physician-prescribed opioids. You’ll learn proven techniques to safely and effectively manage pain through: gentle, no-impact exercise; pacing and planning; stress reduction; managing medications; better communication with doctors, family, and friends; good nutrition; decision-making; evaluating treatments; and more. Participants also receive a book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain, a CD of the exercise program, and a Relaxation CD. Participants agree to attend all sessions, fill out required paperwork, and participate in a focus group after the workshop concludes.
