Senior Guest House at Fairhill is a safe, temporary shelter for first-time homeless older adults.
Senior Guest House Residents
- Residents are older adults 60+, used to living independently and in urgent need of short term residential placement.
- Approximately 80% are City of Cleveland residents and almost all are economically disadvantaged.
During their stay participants receive a complete benefits screening (including information and assistance with filing paperwork pertaining to voter registration and absentee ballot registration), easy access to receiving benefits for which they are determined eligible, relocation assistance and life skills assistance through case management and no cost classes, and group meetings.
“I’ve attended helpful courses, found guidance concerning government programs, food, transportation, health care and SSI,” said a man who came to the Senior Guest House after losing a job when he no longer could pass the physical.
Almost 400 older persons have benefited from direct services at the Senior Guest House – the only elder shelter facility in Northeast Ohio.
